"Start Talking Portage"
"Start Talking Portage" is a community partnership that meets in the basement of Christ Lutheran Church on a monthly basis to plan events to tackle the growing addiction problems in Portage County. Please check our church calendar for meeting dates and upcoming events.

"Start Talking Portage" is a community partnership that is working to end drug abuse in Portage County by assisting all community members with the knowledge and resources available to help.

As a result of this partnership, opportunities were provided for community members to learn more about the opioid and heroin overdoses in Portage County. Through the Portage County Health Department Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided With Naloxone) kits were made available at the end of the program to those who are in a position to help someone nearing an overdose and preventing a death.

The HIPS (Hidden In Plain Sight) is an awareness program for parents. It is desigend to educate them on things that they may find in their child's room, book bag, or car. They may think the item is innocent, but the item may indicate that their child may be involved in some risky behavior. The HIPS program will be presented at Crestwood Middle School January 18th. "Snoop and Search" begins at 6:00 pm with the presentation beginning at 6:30 pm. There is no charge for this program and it's a parents only program.
